Tree-Lined Driveway Needed Some Housekeeping

The road in our little neighborhood is not maintained by the state, and we do not have a lot in the way of local help. We pretty much take care of things on our own. Our driveway is just off of this road, and it is lined with giant trees. When a storm brought done two of them together across our driveway and out into the road, I decided to call a Nassau County tree removal service to get rid of them and look at the rest of the trees.

I did not have a budget for this. Since there was no structural damage to anything, I figured our insurance would not cover a nickel of it. I have cut up smaller trees to move them with my own chainsaw. This job was way too big and even dangerous. The Nassau County tree removal service came out and had the road cleared in no time. One of their experts checked the rest of the treeline on both sides of the driveway searching for damaged trees that were likely to come down in the next storm. Three needed to be removed, and four needed to be pruned a lot.

The investment was worth it. Our driveway looks so much better with the trees being managed. I liked the dense overhanging canopy the trees made over the driveway, and I never give a second thought to the health of any of the trees. The ones that needed to come down were infected with some kind of blight, and that put all the rest of the trees at risk. I think we take trees too much for granted thinking they will always be there and never fall. Those huge trees laying across our driveway preventing anyone from getting in or out was a reminder to me just how powerful nature can be.
